Khanduri celebrates 75th birthday

Dehra Dun, Oct 1 (UNI) Uttarakhand Chief Minister Bhuvan Chandra Khanduri today celebrated his 75th birthday with orphans and statehood agitationists.

Maj Gen Khanduri first paid floral tributes in Shahid Sthal that was established in memory of statehood martyrs on the Collectorate premises.

Addressing the statehood agitationists present on the occasion, Maj Gen Khanduri said the state government was setting up a committee with the help of representatives of agitationists groups to identify those eligible for privileges conferred by the state government.

He added his government was committed to realising the dreams of the state martyrs.

Chief Minister Khanduri later visited orphange Vanita Ashram and interacted with the children, distributing fruit and sweets to them. He extended his assurance to the children that the government would give all possible assistance for their bright future.

The foundation stone of the ashram was laid by Mahatma Gandhi in 1924 and inagurated by Purushottam Das in 1929.

Maj Gen Khanduri also participated in the blood donation camp held at a local school.

Members of various communities extended their greetings to him.
