ISRO moves HC against DFO's eviction notice
Kochi, Oct 1 (UNI) The Indian Institute of Space Science and Technology (IISST), set up by the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO), today moved the Kerala high court to quash the eviction notice issued to it by the Divisional Forest Officer, Thiruvananthapuram.
Filing a petition against the notice, dated September eight last, IISST Director B N Suresh sought a direction to the state government and the Forest Department not to obstruct the petitioner from setting up the IISST at the land bought by it in Ponmudi from Xavi Mathew, MD, Southern Ventures Limited.
The Thiruvananthapuram DFO had directed the IISST to vacate the land possessed by the institute at Ponmudi on the ground that it was forest land illegally sold to it.
The IISST also sought a direction from the court to call for the records leading to the notice.
