CISF Sub-Inspector shot dead

Bhilai, Oct 1 (UNI) In a fit of rage, a Central Industrial Security Force constable shot dead a Sub-Inspector and later committed suicide at the CISF office attached to the public sector Bhilai Steel Plant here late last night.

Additional Superintendent of Police (City) Dr Sanjeev Shukla said it appeared that Constable Balbir Singh had killed Sub-Inspector R P Singh and later shot himself dead near the CISF office here.

Preliminary investigations revealed that Constable Balbir Singh was issued a self-loading rifle (SLR) from the armoury while Sub-Inspector R P Singh also obtained a 9 mm pistol after they reported for duty. Both apparently had a scuffle and the Constable fired at his senior and opened fire on himself.

The CISF personnel, who reached the spot, rushed them to the hospital where the doctors declared them brought dead. CISF Deputy Inspector General Tarun Kumar Ghosh and other senior police officials reached the spot.

Police said a case had been registered and further investigations were in progress.
