UN envoy yet to meet Myanmar junta chief - diplomats

YANGON, Sep 30 (Reuters) United Nations special envoy Ibrahim Gambari ''is yet to meet'' Myanmar junta supremo Senior General Than Shwe, diplomatic sources said today.

After Gambari met detained opposition leader Aung San Suu Kyi, a flight to Singapore that Gambari was expected to take left without him. Asked whether Gambari was to meet Than Shwe, one source replied: ''Mr. Gambari is still in the country.'' No furthers details were given.

A second diplomat corroborated the report, but also could not provide details.
