NC Corporator attempts self-immolation in Jammu

Jammu, Sep 30 (UNI) Annoyed over local MLA's alleged interference in his area, a National Conference (NC) Corporator attempted self-immolation during a general house meeting of the Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC) here, police sources today said.

NC Corporator from Ward No. 4, Mr Ashok Dogra doused himself in kerosene oil and tried to set afire last afternoon, alleging he had not been supported by the local Congress MLA for the development of his area.

''The NC Corporator levelled serious allegations charging local Congress MLA in the area for not giving him free hand to help people,'' sources told UNI.

However, JMC Deputy Mayor Dharamveer Jamwal, along with few other Corporators, intervened and swiftly took away Mr Dogra from the meeting.
