Mafia active in power sector in MP: Prahlad

Bhopal, Sep 30 (UNI) Reiterating that the BJP-ruled Madhya Pradesh Government is steeped into corruption, the Bharatiya Janshakti (BJ) today alleged that mafia was active in power sector.

In a statement issued by the BJ on the sixth day of party General Secretary Prahlad Patel's fast against rampant corruption in the government, the party lambasted the government for laxity in collection of power bills from industrial houses and influential political leaders.

The BJ pointed out that huge electricity bills were pending on industrial houses and influential political leaders but no concrete step was being taken towards their collection. As a result, common man and farmers were being forced to bear the burnt.

The party claimed that power tariff in Madhya Pradesh was higher than Gujarat and Rajasthan.

Besides power department, the BJ took a dig at the working style of the PWD department and attributed poor condition of roads to numerous scams.

The party alleged that contracts worth several crores were being awarded to a contractor, believed to be close to Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan.

Besides, irregularities was taking place in transfers in departments. Lack of coordination among concerned departments was hampering road construction work.

Lashing out at the Congress for irresponsive governance, the BJ said the BJP had furthered corruption started by the Congress instead of improving the situation.
