Protest in Bangladesh

Dhaka, Sep 29, 2007 : The police in Bangladesh capital Dhaka on Friday foiled a march by hundreds of Islamists protesting over the publication of cartoon in a local newspaper, which they say offended their religion.

Prothom Alo, the leading Bangla language daily published the cartoon on September 17 in its weekly satire magazine Alpin. In the cartoon a small boy referred to his cat as "Mohammad cat", provoking the outrage.
