Jamshedpur, Sep 29 (UNI) At least 40 people travelling in a motor-driven boat were rescued by divers and villagers when they were trapped mid-stream in the Kharkai river in neighbouring Seraikela-Kharsawan district, police today said.
Police said the boat was ferrying passengers from Vishnu Paduka Ghat to Seraikela Ghat last evening when there was a sudden breakdown of the motor mid-stream near Jhamna Ghat.
However, prompt action by three divers, engaged by the boat owner, and local villagers, helped to rescue the commuters, police said.
