Three militants arrested in Manipur

Imphal, Sep 29: Three militants were arrested by troops and Manipur Police in separate incidents, the PRO of Assam Rifles today said.

Troops of 21 AR of 9 Sector under HQ IGAR(South) launched an operation at Thoubal district yesterday and arrested one United National Liberation Front(UNLF) cadre who was handed over to Kakching PS, a release by the PRO said.

In another incident, troops of the 24 AR launched an operation at Moreh, Chandel district.

A 'Lieutenant' of People's Revolutionary Party of Kangleipak (PREPAK) was nabbed and a .32 mm pistol with a magazine and two live rounds of ammunition were recovered from him. He was handed over to the Imphal West Police Station.

In another incident a cadre of the People's Liberation Army PLA), identified as Md Alauddin, was arrested by Imphal West district police from Lamphel, Imphal late yesterday.

The SP, Imphal West, Clay Khongsai said Alauddin disclosed that he had joined the outfit in July, 1993 and underwent military training in Damai of Bangladesh.
