MSU confers honorary doctorate on Mukesh Ambani, Ravi Shankar

Vadodara, Sep 29 (UNI) The premier Maharaja Sayajirao University of Baroda (MSU) today conferred honorary doctorate degrees to Reliance Industries Limited (RIL) chairman Mukesh Ambani and spiritual guru Sri Sri Ravi Shankar at its 56th annual convocation here.

Mr Ambani was conferred the honorary doctor of science degree in recognition of his brilliant achievement and contribution to the Indian economy, while Sri Sri Ravi Shankar was conferred the honorary doctor of letters degree for his immense contribution towards human society.

MSU chancellor Dr Mrunalini Devi Puar conferred the degrees to the duo by presenting a citation and a shawl to each in the presence of Lord Karan Bilimoria, member of the House of Lords in the British Parliament, who delivered the convocation address as the chief guest.

The prestigious university had earlier conferred such honours to prominent people like former presidents Sarvapalli Radhakrishnan and Dr A P J Abdul Kalam and nightingale Lata Mangeshkar.
