Mid-day meal extended to class ten

Tirumala, Sep 29 (UNI) The Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) Trust Board today decided to extend mid-day meals upto 10th standard students in TTD-run educational institutions.

Briefing the Board meeting decisions, Board Chairman B Karunakara Reddy said the scheme was available upto the seventh standard now.

A 'Vidyadhana Trust' would be set up to coordinate functioning of Gurukula Schools for poor students in Andhra Pradesh.

The board also resolved to regularise Potu workers, working in Tirumala Temple Potu and they would be retained as Assistant/ Shroff.

A laddu counter complex would be set up at a cost of Rs five crore, near Sri Vari Temple here.

Meanwhile, 'Mahalaghu Darshan' (distant darsan) was enforced at the temple following weekend rush.
