Major post unification reshuffle in Nepali Congress

Kathmandu, Sep 29 (UNI) Nepali Prime Minister and Congress President Girija Prasad Koirala has appointed Mr Ram Chandra Paudel and Dr Ram Baran Yadav as vice president and general secretary respectively of the party.

Mr Paudel will be the seniormost Vice President of the Party while Mr Prakash Man Singh and Mr Gopal Man Shrestha, who were vice presidents in the Deuba led Congress splinter group will retain their post after the unification of the party this week.

Dr Yadav, Mr Kul Bahadur Gurung and Mr Bimalendra Nidhi will be the three general secretaries in the party. Dr Yadav and Mr Nidhi represent Terai while Mr Gurung is from an ethnic community.

According to the agreement, Sushil Koirala will be the acting party president in the unified party while Deuba will be the leader second in portfolio after Girija Prasad Koirala withough any role.

MR Girija Prasad Koirala and President of the Nepali Congress (Democratic) (NC-D) Sher Bahadur Deuba had signed a party unification document on Tuesday last through a joint Maha Samiti(central committee) after five years and four months of political separation.
