Fifth unit of Omkareshwar project synchronised successfully

Bhopal, Sep 29 (UNI) The fifth unit of the Omkareshwar project has been successfully synchronised with the grid today after completion of all electrical and mechanical tests.

According to a release issued by the National Hydro-Development Corporation (NHDC), first four units -- already synchronised with the grid -- has been put on commercial generation.

The fifth unit would be declared for commercial generation shortly.

NHDC Chief Executive Director D P Bhargava congratulated project authorities and staff.

He also thanked the Madhya Pradesh Government for cooperation in completion of the project.

The project -- having eight units of 65 MW each -- aims at generating 520 MW that would be totally available on commercial basis by the end of November.
