Sugar prices ease on large stock arrivals

Navi Mumbai, Sep 28 (UNI) Sugar prices declined for the third consecutive day today, easing by Rs 15 per quintal on sustained heavy offers by stockists following larger stock arrivals from mills, traders at the wholesale sugar market said.

Small and medium grades (per quintal) eased again by Rs 15 each on thin buying support from bulk and retail consumers in view of weak advice from upcountry co-operative mills. The prices crashed by over Rs 50 in the last three days.

Similarly, ex-mill small and medium grades (per quintal) also declined by Rs 10 and Rs 20 respectively on lack of fresh buying support from dealers.

Following are the spot wholesale rates per quintal: Small grade: Rs 1,335/1,386, Medium grade: Rs 1,376/1,485.

Ex-mill small grade: Rs 1,310/1,350, Medium grade: Rs 1,350/1440.
