Sugar mill workers detained

Kolhapur, Sep 28 (UNI) The police today detained about 20 workers of the Panchaganga Cooperative Sugar Factory who had threatened to immolate themselves in front of the district collectorate here today.

The workers have been agitating since past few months, demanding the release of their salaries that have not been paid for about an year.

The agitating workers had threatened to immolate themselves in front of the district collectorate to draw the government's attention to their plight.

However, when the workers assembled in the collectorate, they were rounded up by the police. All of them were later released.

A delegation of the workers' leaders, meanwhile, submitted a memorandum to collector Pravin Darade.
