Security beefedup in five districts

Mysore, Sep 27 (UNI) Police security has been beefed up in five districts following the local body elections slated for tomorrow.

According to the office of the DIG Southern range here, a total of more then 4,468 police personnel have been depute on election duty at Mysore, Mandya, Kodagu, Hassan and Chamarajanagara districts.

Apart from this 1,270 homeguards, additional police constables and 18 platoons of CRPF would be deployed.

Meanwhile, the Mysore city corporation elections in 688 booths for 65 wards would began tomorrow morning. Out of the total 7,12,450 voters, 3,56,663 are women and remaining 3,55,797 are men. In all 331 candidates are in the fray from Congress, BJP, SBP, Janta Dal (S) and other parties including independents.

The City Police Commissioner Bhaskar Rao told newsmen that prohibition orders under section 144 of CRPC would be imposed from the midnight of September 29 till the midnight of October 1 and prohibit processions, rallies and all kinds of victory celebrations after the elections results.

Counting of votes would began on September 30 and results are expected by afternoon.
