Minor set on fire after rape

Barabanki, Sep 28 (UNI) A minor girl was allegedly raped and later set on fire by a youth in Kotwali area of the city today.

In a complaint, it was alleged that Ashif (26) -- son of Maulana Fahim -- criminally assaulted his 17-year-old neighbour at Greedganj locality and later set her on fire after dousing with kerosene.

The wounded was rushed to the district hospital in a critical condition, where she was referred to Lucknow's trauma centre with 40 per cent burns.

Meawhile, the family of Fahim was absconding. A hunt to nab the rapist was on, police said.
