Lady API seriously injured in acid attack

Kolhapur, SEP 28 (UNI) A Lady Assistant police inspector (API) received serious burn injuries when a youth threw acid on her here this afternoon.

API Vidya Gaikwad, hailing from Gadinglaj tehsil in the district, was in her flat, located at Kasaba Bavada suburb. when the youth Shamrao Patil entered her room and threw acid on her, police sources said.

She was rushed to the Chhatrapati Pramila Raje Hospital by her neighbours. The accused made a quick getaway after the incident.

The reason for the attack was yet to be ascertained. District superintendent of police, Sukhwinder Singh visited the hospital and enquired about her condition.
