Elephant found dead

Dehra Dun, Sep 28 (UNI) An elephant was found dead in a field at Gaderiyakhal village of Pauri district in Uttarakhand this morning.

According to sources, a watchman of the village found the body.

The incident was reported to the Forest Officials who reached the spot along with a team from Motichur, Haridwar headed by Dr Pallavi Bhagwati.

Dr Bhagwati said the reason for the death of the pachyderm was not clear. The corpse of the tusker has been sent for further forensic test, she added.

Since the tusks of the elephant are intact and no sign of injury was visible, the forest officials have ruled out the involvement of poachers.
