1 sentenced; 8 acquitted for attacking police

Anand, Sept 28 (UNI) A man was sentenced fone month in jail for attacking the police by the fast track court judge AS Verma. Eight others were acquitted due to lack of evidence.

Mujafar Pathan, 24, and others had attacked a police party and relief workers when they rushed with relief materials to a marooned to Ismailnagar area of Anand town on July 24, 2005. A mob attacked the police party and the same cases were filed under IPC 427 for obstructing government officials. The mob was angry over delay of relief by three days.
