Thackeray's case adjourned till October 18

Mumbai, Sep 27 (UNI) A local court today adjourned till October 18 the hearing on a petition filed by NCP activist Munna Tripathi against Shiv Sena chief Bal Thackeray for allegedly publishing provocative articles in the party mouthpiece ''Saamna'' on June 20, last year.

When the matter came up for a hearing before Railway Mobile Court judge B V Kulkarni today, Mr Tripathi told the court he had moved an application before Chief Metropolitan Magistrate M H Belose for transfer of the case from this court. He also furnished the copy of order of the CMM.

The judge declined to adjourn the matter as he wanted to hear it today itself. After three short adjournments following arguments between the court and the petitioner, the court directed the petitioner to file an affidavit praying for the adjournment.

After filing the affidavit, the judge adjourned the matter till October 18. The judge, meanwhile, directed Mr Thackeray to remain present in the court at the time of hearing on the transfer application scheduled for October 17.
