Rupee opens firm at 39.66/68 per USD

Mumbai, Sep 27 (UNI) Rupee today opened firm at 39.66/68 per U S dollar, taking a slight upward move of four paise against dollar as compared to the previous close of 39.70/71 per dollar.

The local unit opend firm in a less active Inter-Bank Foreign Excange (Forex) market during the early sessions and traded in a range bound level of 39.65-68 per dollar due to the reported intervention of Reserve Bank of India (RBI), dealers said.

On Wednesday, the partially convertible Indian currency touched a high of 39.62 per dollar, near to nine year peak, during the intra-day trade due to heavy inflows. Rupee shown a tendency to gain further but due to reported intervention by the Apex bank it was caped and supposed to trade in range bound levels in further sessions, dealers opined.
