MP's farmhands to be registered

Bhopal, Sep 27 (UNI) Registration of Madhya Pradesh's roughly 75 lakh agricultural labourers, including 38 lakh women, would begin next month under the Mukhyamantri Mazdoor Suraksha Yojana, official sources said.

The drive would start from village panchayat headquarters and a comprehensive campaign initiated from November 1 -- the state's formation day anniversary. Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan, his ministerial colleagues, MPs, MLAs and other public representatives would take part in the campaign on November 1. Photo identity cards would be issued to beneficiaries.

Key decisions regarding implementation were taken at a meeting chaired here today by Mr Chouhan who announced the scheme on September 20. Those registered as construction labourers would be ineligible. The scheme included one-and-half months' maternity leave and a fortnight's leave for fathers-to-be, accident insurance and scholarships.
