Infotech first on site photogrammetry inaugurated

Hyderabad, Sep 27 (UNI) Surveyor General of India Major General M Gopal Rao today inaugurated the Infotech Enterprises Limited's service provider facility in the Survey of India campus.

Infotech would be executing the contract awarded by the Survey of India for mapping the cities of Ahmedabad and Chennai. Infotech would be employing softcopy Photogrammetry technology to extract features in 3D, a release said here.

A team from Infotech would operate from this secure facility and execute the project in four months. The features to be captured, include buildings, transport network, utility networks, communication structures, water bodies, vegetation, and contours.

Infotech's experience in creating world class maps in North America and Europe would be a natural advantage and this was the first step towards creating large-scale mapping and GIS applications in India, the release added.
