Nagpur, Sep 27 (UNI) The indefinite curfew, imposed after yesterday's disturbances, continued for the second day in Khamgaon in Buldhana district in Vidarbha region of Maharashtra even as the town remained peaceful today.

According to the police, 57 persons have been arrested so far in connection with yesterday's violence in the town.

The curfew was clamped after the police fired 15 rounds in the air to disperse a rampaging mob in the wake of group clashes there.

Trouble erupted when two persons were beaten up at 2 places, leading to group clashes, during which miscreants resorted to arson and stone pelting.

There was tension on Tuesday night after miscreants allegedly threw stones and footwear on those participating in a Ganesha immersion procession as it passed a place of worship.
