Two held for making country-made bombs

Mumbai, Sep 26 (UNI) The Crime Branch of the Mumbai Police today arrested one more person, suspected to be involved in the manufacturing of country-made bombs, from Vakola area here.

Shoumitra Badal Roy (36), an auto driver by occupation, was arrested by sleuths of the Crime Branch Unit-X for being part of the bomb-making gang from Vakola in North Mumbai, Joint Commissioner of Police (Crime) Rakesh Maria told mediapersons here today.

Last evening, on the basis of an information, Crime Branch officials arrested one Rajiv Jaigovind Singh (22) and seized six country-made bombs each weighing 500 grams from his possession at Agarkar Chowk outside the Andheri railway station in North Mumbai.

Upon interrogation, Singh confessed the involvement of Roy as an accomplice from whom he learnt the making of crude bombs, said Mr Maria.

With today's arrest, the number of persons have reached to two.

Dismissing reports that the duo was part of a terror group and had planned to target the immersion festivities, the Joint Commissioner said it is too early to reach any conclusions as investigations we still under progress.
