Ranchi, Sep 26 (UNI) Member of National Rural Employment Guarantee Council (NREGC) K N Tripathy today alleged that the deputy commissioner and district programme coordinators in Jharkhand have sanctioned work permit in their area under National Rural Employment Guarantee Act 'illegally'.

In a letter sent to state's Chief Minister Madhu Koda, Mr Tripathy alleged that DCs had sanctioned work overlooking the rules of the Act.

Refering to the case of Latehar district, Mr Tripathy said the concerned officials had sanctioned a tune of Rs 20 crores in the current fiscal under NREGA for construction of pucca roads.

'The rule says that pucca roads are to be built for rural connectivity but this rule was overlooked in Latehar,' Mr Tripathy said adding 90 per cent of the sanctioned work had no connection with the rural areas.

Mr Tripathy said that state government should initiate action against guilty officers.
