Nikon sets up wholly owned subsidiary in India

New Delhi, Sept 26: The 6.3 billion dollar Nikon Corporation today set up its wholly owned subsidiary in the country to manage Indian and West Asia operations.

''We are glad to launch a 100 per cent subsidiary in India which is highly promising market. The presence of Nikon India will lead to enhanced consumer choice and greater consumer outreach programmes through an augmented distribution network as well as superior service support,'' said Nikon India Private Ltd (NIPL) Managing Director Hidehiko Tanaka.

Headquartered at Gurgaon, NIPL will provide the customers with wider variety of professional and compact digital cameras--Nikon D-SLRs and Nikon COOLPIX, company said in a statement.

While Nikon already has two regional distributors and these networks will be augmented, the statement added.
