Myanmar troops use tear gas on monks, arrest 80

YANGON, Sep 26 (Reuters) Myanmar security forces today used tear gas to disperse monks trying to enter Yangon's Shwedagon Pagoda, the starting point for mass protests they have led, and arrested about 80, witnesses said.

Some of the monks protesting against 45 years of military rule were beaten or manhandled as they were taken away, they said.
