Indian space industry wants global competition: Murthy

Hyderabad, Sep 26 (UNI) Antrix Corporation Executive Director K Sridhar Murthy today said private companies engaged in space industry wanted to become global competitors to further their market access.

Participating in a plenary on 'Role of government procurement in developing space market,' organised at 58th International Astronautical Congress (IAC 2007) here, Mr Murthy said, ''the industry wanted global competition, when there will be good cost efficience.'' ''Sharing of risk by the government to prmote the space industry is very essential at this stage for further promotion of space market,'' he added.

''India's space programme has very ambitious targets to strengthen the infrastructure and expand new services in the country. There is scope for the participation of global industry and local industries in Space technology,'' he explained.
