Haryana increases DA to 41 per cent

Chandigarh, Sep 26 (UNI) Haryana Finance Minister Birender Singh today announced to enhance the rate of Dearness Allowance (DA) payable to the state government employees from 35 per cent to 41 per cent with effect from July 1 on the pattern of the Central Government employees.

The Finance Minister said the arrears on account of the enhancement made in DA would be paid in cash.

Mr Birender Singh said the increase in DA would put additional liability of Rs 132 crore on the state exchequer during the eight months from July 2007 to Febuary, 2008 of the current financial year and Rs 198 crore during the next financial year.

He said the government had to bear liability of Rs 16.50 crore per month on granting of DA instalments to its employees. This enhancement in DA instalments would benefit 2.74 lakh employees of the state, he added.
