Gujarat has immense potential: Modi

Ahmedabad, Sep 26 (UNI) Chief Minister Narendra Modi today said the time has come to make the world realize that Gujarat had immense potential to tackle global challenges.

The Chief Minister, who was addressing the 'Global Gujarat dialogue', organised by 'Economic Times' here, said in the 21st century, the state has taken concrete policy initiatives to create the unique identity of 'Global Gujarat'.

He said the state will play a meaningful role to fulfill the aspirations of the world. 'Gujarat is capable of meeting the global challenges as its people are well known for its entrepreneurial spirit and the government has undertaken a public movement of development in this regard'', he said.

Mr Modi said to realize the dream of integrated development and to establish a world class reputation, the state has created its image as 'Vibrant Gujarat'. ''With the public participation and strategic planning we are moving towards economic and industrial development'', he said.

The sphere of technical education had expanded and human resource is to be trained to meet the expectations of newly emerging trends.

''We are in the process of setting up chain of special economic zones and Jyotigram Yojana has opened new avenues of rural development'', he said.

In the Panel discusssion, Pankaj Patel of Zydus Cadila spoke on the global potential of Gujarat in the Pharmaceutical sector, while human resource development and higher education was the subject matter of Prof Bakul Dholakiya. GCCI President Parul Jaykrishnan offered innovative insights about the fast changes taking place in the world economy.
