Govt employees protest against privatisation of health insurance
Aizawl, Sep 26 (UNI) The Federation of Mizoram Government Employees and Workers has strongly protested against the privatisation of health insurance schemes even as the state government's one-year deal with ICICI-Lombard General Insurance Company ends on September 30.
A meeting of the federation, comprising all state government employees held here yesterday, asserted that they were strongly against privatisation of health insurance schemes and demanded status quo in which the state government would take care of medical reimbursement for its employees.
Sources said the state government was intending to renew the agreement with ICICI-Lombard which, however, was kept at a low profile.
''As the one-year deal would end shortly, we felt the need to express our stand with regard to the health insurance scheme. If the government goes ahead to renew the deal, we will organise agitation,'' a leader of the federation said.
He added that they would also demand reintroduction of the Central Medical Reimbursement Amendment Rules, 1944.
