Fresh voter ID card centres to function from next month

New Delhi, Sep 26 (UNI) Voter Registration Electoral Photo Identity Card (VREPIC) Centres all over the city would begin operations by the end of next month.

The centres would facilitate addition/deletion/correction in electoral lists while issuing fresh Photo Identity Cards and registering enrolment of new voters, Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit announced this today after the conclusion of the two-day review meet.

Ms Dikshit, while stressing the need to complete the entire exercise in all the 70 assembly segments at the earliest, said due caution and care needed to be taken in the process which would go a long way in preparation of fool-proof electoral rolls in Delhi.

Eleven Centres have been established and another 28 would be commissioned by the first week of October.

Apart from this, booth level officers who would be contacting residents at their doorsteps for updating electoral rolls besides facilitating their photography at nearest possible point.
