Former Gujarat minister Jairambhai Patel passes away

Gandhinagar, Sep 26: Veteran Gandhian and former Home Minister Jairambhai Patel died here today after a prolonged illness.

He was 80 and was suffering from a kidney problem. He had been admitted to a hospital.

Mr Patel was chairman of the Gujarat State Cooperative Bank and also served as the Chairman of the Gujarat Mineral Development Corporation.

He was elected MLA from Upleta in Saurashtra and was close to former Chief Minister Hitendra Desai.

His final rites will be held here this evening.
