Car bomb kills five people in northern Iraq
MOSUL, Iraq, Sep 26 (Reuters) A suicide car bomber killed five people and wounded nine in an attack targeting a tribal leader near the town of Sinjar in northwest Iraq today, local officials said.
Sinjar mayor Dakheel Hassu said the bomber blew his car up in a reception area where Sheikh Kanan al-Juhaimur regularly hosted guests outside his house in the village of Um el-Zaidan.
Police said Juhaimur was wounded in the attack but Hassu said he had no details on the tribal leader's fate.
Last month, multiple truck bombings in the Sinjar district, west of Mosul, killed more than 400 people. That was the deadliest militant attack in Iraq since the US-led invasion in 2003.
