Body of Army officer brought to Coimbatore

Coimbatore, Sep 26 (UNI) The body of Col V Manivannan, who laid down his life while defending the country's borders, was brought here from Srinagar today.

The mortal remains would be later taken to his native place Mahalingapuram in Pollachi for cremation.

Manivannan was killed on September 24 at the border and the body was received here by Coimbatore City Police Commissioner C K Gandhirajan and other district officials.

District Collector Neeraj Mittal would pay homage to the martyr at Mahalingapuram where Mr Manivannan's body would be cremated with full military honours later in the day.
