Arainespace moots Indian platforms for foreign sat launch

Hyderabad, Sep 26 (UNI) Riding on the success of India's twin rockets-- Polar Satellite Launch Vehicle (PSLV) and Geo-Synchronous Satellite Launch Vehicle (GSLV)--Arainespace, world's first commercial satellite launch services and solutions provider, will jointly explore with Antrix Corporation, the marketing arm of the ISRO, to use the Indian platforms for launching third country satellites.

The joint Indo-European effort could fructify over the next two years, Arainespace Chairman and CEO Jean Yves Le Gall told the media here today on the sidelines of the 58th International Astronautical Congress (IAC-2007) here.

With ''technical qualification'' of both the PSLV and the GSLV ''established'' these will provide flexibility in the joint marketing efforts as both had proved to be ''very good technical success'', he said. ''The efforts to market (the Indian platforms) could materialise, say over the next two years or so'', Mr Gall added.

These vehicles could be commercially used for launching smaller satellites. Both Arianespace and Antrix Corporation have an agreement for joint cooperation for commercial launch.
