Woman commits suicide, husband, son critical

Kancheepuram, Sep 25 (UNI) A 30-year-old woman allegedly committed suicide by setting herself alight at her house here late last night.

Police said Savithri (30) and her husband Ram had been married for 11 years. The couple had an eight-year-old daughter and a three-month old child.

Last night, when everybody was fast asleep, Savithri took the extreme step after dousing herself with kerosene While Savithri died, her husband and son sustained severe burn injuries and were rushed to the Kilpauk Medical College Hospital in Chennai for treatment. Their condition is stated to be critical.

However, the couple's daughter and Ram's mother escaped without any injury. Police said the incident followed a family dispute.
