US's Paulson to meet Indian finance minister

WASHINGTON, Sep 24 (Reuters) US Treasury Secretary Henry Paulson will meet with Indian Finance Minister Palaniappan Chidambaram today in Washington to discuss economic issues, including financial sector reforms, the Treasury said yesterday.

Paulson, who participated on Monday in US-India economic dialogue talks and a related corporate chief executives forum in New York, will discuss the development of Mumbai into an international finance center and ways to boost financing for India's infrastructure needs, the Treasury said.

The two finance ministers are expected to discuss how the United States and financial regulators can best support India in achieving its economic and development goals.

The meeting also will cover Paulson's planned trip to India in late October. Paulson is scheduled to visit Mumbai on October 29 and New Delhi on Oct 30, where he will participate in the Fortune Global Forum.
