Six killed in Uganda-DRC shooting on Lake Albert-UN
KINSHASA, Sep 25 (Reuters) Six people were killed when Ugandan soldiers opened fire after stopping a Congolese boat on Lake Albert, a UN spokesman in Democratic Republic of Congo said today, citing witnesses to the incident.
The spokesman, Michel Bonnardeau, quoted the witnesses as saying the shooting occurred yesterday when two Congolese soldiers aboard the halted vessel refused orders from the Ugandan troops on a patrol boat to hand over their weapons.
''We can confirm six dead and five injured,'' he said.
