Siachen Glacier trekking expedition flagged off from Leh
Jammu, Sep 25 (UNI) The first of its kind, Siachen Glacier Trek, which included civilians, was today flagged off from Leh in Jammu and Kashmir, a defence ministry spokesman said.
The 42-member trekking expedition was flagged off by Lieutenant General P C Bhardwaj, General Officer Commanding, 'Fire and Fury' Corps, defence spokesman Lt Col S D Goswami said.
Besides mediapersons and civilians, the trekking team included 15 army personnel, Gentlemen Cadets of Indian Military Academy, Dehradun, four cadets each of Rashtriya Indian Military College (RIMC) and Rashtriya Military School, Chail and six National Cadets Corps cadets from Ladakh area.
Under the close supervision of Army's XIV Corps, the trek will be completed over a period of twenty days, the spokesman added.
