Rice says US to push for UN action on Myanmar
NEW YORK, Sep 24 (Reuters) The United States will step up pressure for UN Security Council action on Myanmar, to support demonstrators protesting against the country's military rulers, Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice said today.
''The international community's got to stand up much more than it has,'' Rice said in an interview with Reuters. ''I think what the Burmese (Myanmar) junta is doing is just a reminder of how really brutal this regime is.'' ''The Security Council shouldn't allow this to continue and I think you'll see us pressing more for Security Council action,'' Rice added.
