Religious procession puts spokes in scientific meet

Hyderabad, Sep 25 (UNI) Some of the technical sessions at the International Astronautical Congress (IAC 2007) were cancelled to avoid inconvenience to international delegates as most of the city roads were blocked in view of the Ganesh idol immersion procession.

IAC authorities said evening sessions, discussions and paper presentation programmes in the conference, slated to be held at the Hyderabad International Convention Centre (HICC), were cancelled.

All the delegates were sent back to the hotels where they were staying by afternoon.

The cancellation followed a directive from the city police in this regard, they said.

Most of the arterial city roads were choked from this afternoon.
