Nikkei slips as banks, exporters down

Tokyo, Sep 25: Japan's Nikkei average inched 0.01 percent lower after opening slightly higher on Tuesday, dragged down by financial shares such as Mizuho Financial Group Inc after credit worries hit Wall Street again overnight, while a stronger yen weighed on exporters.

As of 0002 GMT, the benchmark Nikkei was down 0.01 percent or 1.3 points at 16,311.31. The broader TOPIX index shed 0.1 percent or 1.5 points to 1,550.57.
