Four day national conf on Urban issues to begin on Sept 27 in Mumbai

Bangalore, Sep 25 (UNI) A four day India USP 2007, first of its kind, national conference aimed at widening participation of cities to examine planning and management will be inaugurated by Urban Development Minister Jaipal Reddy in Mumbai on September 27.

According to a release issued here by India Urban Space, a registered trust, the four day event discuss, among others, policy reforms of national impact and create network opportunities between diverse stakeholders such as the government, market, academia and civil society. Six states including Karnataka, engaged in experimenting with models of title or records, had been invited by the Urban Development Ministry to give presentation during the event.

The release said over 500 delegates comprising senior decision makers including Mayors and Commissioners and technical officials were expected to take part in the event. An urban expo, displaying entire range of urban infrastructure goods would also be held on the occasion. Thirtythree Cities under Jawaharlal Nehru National Urban Renewal Mission (JNNURM) would also set up city booths highlighting their comprehensive development plans, key projects and opportunities to industry, media and public, the release added.

Mr Reddy would also distribute Urban Implementation Awards to governments and agencies for their innovation and excellent implementation of projects related to urban infrastructure on the inaugural day.
