Dharam Singh dismisses Yediyurappa's allegation
Gulbarga, Sep 25 (UNI) Dismissing Deputy Chief Minister B S Yediyurappa's charge that the Centre did not release funds to tackle flood situation, leader of the Opposition in the Karnataka Legislative Assembly N Dharam Singh today countered that the state government had failed to ask for the funds in a proper manner.
Talking to newspersons here, he said Mr Yadiyurappa was away from Bangalore to take part in local body election campaign while Union Home Minister Shivraj Patil was in the state capital to hold a review meeting.
He said despite the Centre's request to submit a detailed report in a week on the flood havoc and the requirement of funds, the government had failed to respond in time, and now they blaming the Centre.
Mr Dharamsingh suggested that the government should constitute ''special teams'' to carry out rescue and rehabilitation works as most of the officials were busy with local body elections.
