Central, State govt. employees to convene joint meeting tomorrow

Bangalore, Sep 25 (UNI) A joint convention of the State and Central government employees Associations will be held in the city tomorrow to discuss the anti-worker policies of the Union and State governments.

Briefing newspersons about the convention, Karnataka Government Employees Federation U D Narasimhaiah and coordinating committee of Central Government Employees and workers Associations President M Muthukumaan said the employees would resolve to fight against the Union government's attempts to systematically down size and close government departments and PSUs and the 'World Bank dictated' New Pension scheme.

The charter of demands of the two organisations included scrapping of PFRDA Bill and cancellation of appointment of pension fund managers and introduction of statutory pension scheme for the new recruits. Granting of full Trade Union rights including right to strike to all government employees through appropriate legislation.

Stoppage of down sizing of government departments and contractual appointments of teachers and workers. Lift ban on recruitment and bring down the abnormally rising prices of essential commodities.
