Amit still proud of state : CM
Shillong, Sep 25 (UNI) Meghalaya Chief Minister D D Lapang today lauded the people of the state for maintaining peace and harmony after the defeat of Amit Paul in the Indian Idol show.
Amit lost the title to his rival Prashant Tamang from Darjeeling.
'' Even though Amit has lost the race, he is still the pride of Meghalaya and will remain the torch-bearer for all the youths of the state, '' the Chief Minister said.
He also hailed the spirit of the people of the state in extending whole-hearted support to Amit Paul.
He said the collective support shown by the people of the state was a step towards the direction of obtaining permanent peace and communal harmony in the state.
'' Amit Paul has cemented the bond of friendship among all sections irrespective of caste, creed and religion, '' Mr Lapang said.
He stated that the people of the state should not be disappointed.
Mr Lapang further said the honorary title conferred recently on Amit - the Ambassador of Peace, Communal Harmony and Excellence - would remain.
