3 Lashker militants, SPO killed in J and K
Srinagar, Sep 25 (UNI) Three militants of Pakistan based Lashker-e- Toiba (LeT) and a Special Police Officer (SPO) of Jammu and Kashmir police were killed in the state overnight.
Superintendent of Police (SP), Kulgam, said troops of Special Operation Group (SOG) launched a search operation at village Yamrach this morning following a tip off about the presence of militants in a house.
When the SOG personnel were about to storm a house, they came under heavy fire from militants hiding inside.
The troops retaliated and in the clash two LeT militants were killed.
He said it was a clear operation with no collateral damage in which just a dozen SOG official participated.
A report from Jammu said troops of 6 Rashtriya Rifles (RR) and SOG launched a joint operation after receiving an information about the presence of two top LeT militants of in Bafliaz area.
During the operation an encounter ensued in which a foreign militant of LeT militant Abu Israr was killed while another managed to escape.
A SPO Shah Hussain also died in the encounter, official sources said.
An AK-56 rifle, two magazines, 11 cartridges one radio set, one telephone, a diary and some documents were recovered from the slain militant, sources added.
